Milestones are always a good time to reflect on the past and make plans for the future, and we have had so many special moments over the last year! For the blog this month, we thought it would be fun to share some of the team’s favorite memories since last August.
“We had a carnival! It was surreal to see it go from concept to watching the local community come out, have a fun afternoon, and support us. I especially loved the Bates Bears, and appreciate the funds and awareness raised around our mission.” ~ Whitney
“I loved seeing how much supplies I could fit in my van😂 when Whitney and I took supplies to Abilene and played ‘Price is Right’ with the young adults. Listening to them talk about everyday life and learning about them was such an amazing day!!” ~ Jessica N. (“Jett”)
“The Bates Mission Carnival and Car Show is one of my favorite memories from this past year. The event was a huge success and experiencing the support from friends, family, and the Leander community was really special. Honda Leander put in a lot of effort to help us put on an amazing event, and we had a great group of volunteers. Putting the carnival together was a really big, new project for us, which at times was scary and overwhelming. But the event was a great success, the day was full of fun and smiling faces, and I can’t wait to do it all again next year!” ~ Jessica P.
“I’ve been working for Bates Mission for the last few years and it has been a blast! Some of my favorite things about Bates Mission would have to be my wonderful coworkers and the fact that we get to help people everyday ! My favorite memory would have to be our anniversary party last year! It went absolutely amazing and coming together to celebrate was amazing and it turned out perfect! I absolutely love working for Bates Mission and can’t wait to watch us keep progressing!” ~ Rizae
“There are so many great memories, but I think the one that touched me the most was our 2nd Anniversary Party. Having not been with the nonprofit for long at that point, I got to meet so many people who’ve been part of Bates Mission since the very beginning. I also watched our founder, Whitney, speak from the heart to a room full of people who are all happily walking this journey with us and lifting us up every step of the way. It was an inspiring moment that I’ve held onto through all the work this last year!” ~ Mikki
